As an Electrical Contractor we are certainly aware of two things.  Utility prices are rising and the total cost of using natural resources are costing far more than the money paid on utility services.

Want to know what it costs to operate a particular item?  Here is the formula for it:

Cost =  Watts x Time x Rate                              Watts of power, Time equipment is used, cost of electricity per kWh.

                     1,000

A radio playing in your office for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a solid year:

Cost = 1500 watts x 8 hours x $0.08 equals 960 divided by 1,000 equals $0.96.  So basically playing the radio all day at work is costing you $1.00 per day.  Rough guess estimates would be 52 x 5 equals 260 x $0.96 equals $249.60 or $20.80 per month.  The usual monthly electrical bill is $125.00 and $20 of is one radio.

If you have a computer monitor that you leave on after you close your office 5 PM to 8 AM when you reopen and week ends.

Cost = 2.0 Amps for the monitor at 120 volts = 240 watts of power.  240 watts x 15 hours a day x $0.08 per hour = 288 divided by 1000 equals $0.288 per day.  So 5 days a week and that is $1.44 and 52 weeks a year $74.88 for a monthly average of $6.24.  OK let us factor in the weekends now.  Same data: 240 watts x 48 hours x $0.08 per hour = 921.6 divided by 1000 equals $0.9216 per weekend.  52 weekends in a year $47.9232 for a monthly average of $3.9936.  Factor these together $6.24 + $4.00 a month is $10.24 and that is a savings of $122.88 a year just from one computer monitor.

If we know that electrical costs are rising and only going to continue rising, by adding only $0.01 (1 cent) you are increasing your monthly cost on just the radio, up by $2.60 a month.

Renewable Resources will help save the environment and actually cost considerably less than using the traditional utility services when you look at a 10 to 20 year plan.

Renewable Resources are used in a variety of ways and are collected through several different mediums, such as Solar Panels, Wind Generators, Hydroelectric Stations, and any combination thereof.  You can also tie into the power grid, and only use renewable resources to offset the cost of your electric bill and reduce the damage imposed upon the environment.

Key Benefits

  • Lock in your cost for electricity, you would not be affected by rising costs of electricity nor by peak and off peak hour usage.
  • Obtain tax credits and rebates, depending upon state, region, and applications.
  • Feed power back to the utility company, PURPA requires utility companies to buy back excess electricity produced via renewable resources.
  • Its Green Power.  Producing electricity with energy from the sun, wind, or water, thus producing no pollutions or emissions and not consuming other raw products like coal.
  • Power Independence.  By using battery back-up systems you can keep your appliances running during utility power outages
  • Low Maintenance.  Solar Electricity is the only form of energy generation that does not involve any moving parts and substantially decreasing maintenance requirements, your largest expense will be in purchasing replacing batteries every 5 to 10 years.

If you would like for one of our solar professionals to meet with you and discuss some options available with you, we would certainly love to do that.  However, the information we would be providing and collecting is a cost to us, so we would bill you $250.00 (Two-Hundred and Fifty Dollars) for that service.  If you decide to purchase a system, from AFLES, the $250.00 would be applied toward that balance.
